The sharp-eyed among you may have noticed a subtle difference in our nameplate for this issue: we are now REAL Studio Developer!

A year ago REAL Software officially changed the name of their IDE to REAL Studio, while keeping REALbasic as the name of the programming language. Since RSD focuses on the entire family of REAL Studio products, it is appropriate for us to make a name change as well (and the timing, as we launch our ninth year, is ideal).

Note that it will take us time to replace every reference to the old title on our website and the Internet, so this will be a gradual change. Our new domain name, rsdeveloper.com works exactly the same as the old domain. For the foreseeable future links to either should work identically (so old links still work fine). But please let me know if you notice any problems!

New Book

RBD Archive Volume 8, the printed collection of the past year's issues, is now available. Subscribers may purchase it for 25% off the regular price, so if you haven't ordered a copy, do so soon!

In This Issue

We've got a nice medley of long articles this time. JC Cruz covers Git version control, while I explain my RBScript-based Transmogrify program. Mattias Sandström covers an interesting client-server optimization problem, and in Beginner's Corner I explain an easy way to make your application AppleScriptable.
