Excerpt of article text...
People often ask me which databases work with REAL Studio. If you use ODBC, the answer is simple: "any of them!" I've successfully used REAL Studio to connect to the following databases:
Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft Access
Oracle
IBM iSeries
FoxPro
What is ODBC?
ODBC is an acronym for Open DataBase Connectivity. It was originally created in 1992 to make it easier for any OS to connect to databases. It is fully supported by Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux making it perfect for use with REAL Studio.
To connect to a database using ODBC, you need an ODBC driver for the database. Because all ODBC drivers implement the same API, anything that uses the ODBC API (including REAL Studio) can then connect to the database without having to provide its own native database drivers.
On Windows, you manage your ODBC connections using the ODBC Data Source Administrator control panel (see Figure 1). By default, Windows includes a few ODBC drivers and most database products will also install their own ODBC drivers for you.
