Excerpt of article text...
Over the past five issues, we've covered five database servers that work well with REALbasic: FrontBase, PostgreSQL, OpenBase, MySQL, and Valentina. By way of recap for this series, I'd like to summarize each database server and provide any updates that may be relevant.
FrontBase (www.frontbase.com)
FrontBase is a powerful cross-platform database that has its own plugin for use with REALbasic Professional. But it is a little tricky to install and lacks any documentation beyond the included PDF documentation.
It is not updated as often as the other databases in this list. The current version is 4.2.8. The REALbasic plugin is at version 1.92.
PostgreSQL (www.postgresql.org)
PostgreSQL is a popular, powerful, cross-platform, free open-source database that works very well with REALbasic. You have a choice of using a plugin with REALbasic Professional or purchasing the pgSQL4RB library from Aliacta, which works with REALbasic Standard.
PostgreSQL installs easily on Windows and Linux, but you really have to use (free) 3rd party installation packages on OS X. There is plenty of documentation available.
