Excerpt of article text...

Last on our list of servers to evaluate is Valentina. The Valentina database is not open source or free, but it is cross-platform, fast, and flexible.

Valentina

Valentina is available in several different editions, which can be a bit confusing at first. There are two parts you'll need to use Valentina with REALbasic. First, you'll need Valentina itself which is available in one of three different packages, described below.

Valentina for REALbasic ($200):

Allows you to build applications using Valentina for a single platform.

Valentina for REALbasic Professional ($300):

Allows you to build applications using Valentina for multiple platforms.

VDN Platform Editor for REALbasic ($600):

Also includes Valentina Embedded Server, Office Server Developer Edition, and more.

Valentina Office Server is the database server product, which sells separately starting at $300 for 5 connections.

As you can see, the licensing options for Valentina are more involved than for any of the other servers we've looked at.
