Excerpt of article text...

"Where is the rest of you!?" That was a typical greeting for me at this year's REAL World REALbasic conference in Austin, Texas in May. This, of course, referred to my dramatic weight loss (nearly 75 pounds) since last year's conference. I could only respond with a huge grin.

While I'd changed, fortunately the conference had not -- it was as good as ever. The sessions were top notch, with valuable tips I shall be incorporating into my programming practices as soon as possible. The socialization -- hanging out with RB-minded people I usually only encounter online -- is still the conference's best feature. There's just no substitute for being able to meet other programmers and discuss complex problems and challenges, asking technical questions to REALbasic engineers, giving feedback to REAL Software management, and pressing session presenters for further detail.

This year the conference kicked things up a notch with a fantastic Texas barbecue dinner and live music exclusive for conference attendees. We even got to see REAL Software CEO Geoff Perlman demonstrate his (impressive) drumming skills when he went on stage to jam with the band!
