Excerpt of article text...

A few months ago there was an interesting discussion on the REALbasic Mailing List (NUG) regarding code optimizations. I decided to edit and organize these tips into a handy article which is a great collection of tips for newbies and pros alike.

Please note that I give full credit to the original authors of these tips. Going with that is the caveat that not everyone agrees on optimizations -- some techniques are marginally faster but create code that is more difficult to maintain and not always worth the effort, so test the code yourself and decide what's worth doing.

If you'd like to follow the full series of email posts on the NUG, you can search the list (at http://support.realsoftware.com/listarchives/lists.html) for "speed tricks."

Brendan Murphy's Speed Tricks

Brendan Murphy got the discussion started with the first post on the "Speed Tricks" topic. He wrote:

OK, this if for the newbies to REALbasic out there. Here are some common tricks for speeding up your code. I have listed some of the most common tricks I have seen and used. If anybody else any other tricks that they would like to share, please feel free to share them. An old dog can learn new tricks!

...End of Excerpt. Please purchase the magazine to read the full article.
