A New Year

Can you believe it's 2006 already? Another REAL World conference looms in late February and the new year promises exciting new things for REALbasic and REALbasic Developer. Stay tuned.

In This Issue

This time we bring you some usual and some unusual. In the usual department, we've got another article in JC Cruz's REALScience series, this time exploring the physics of harmonic motion (such as pendulum movement). We've also got the final installment of Aaron Ballman's Networking series.

For the unusual, we bring you our first editorial: guest author Joe Nastasi proposes that third party plugins, modules, and classes for REALbasic ought to be higher priced. I'll let him make his case, but will concede he has a valid point. Agree? Disagree? Feel free to write us at letters-at-rbdeveloper.com and let us know your thoughts!

Of course an issue would not be complete without a Postmortem. This time Will Leshner breaks down the development of his KidzMail software, a unique email program for kids.

To toot-my-own-horn, those nervous about upgrading to RB2005 should check out my Beginner's Corner this issue: I cover some of the key differences between RB2005 and RB5.

And of course we've got reviews, news, and all our regular columns in this issue. Enjoy!

Many Thanks

Thomas Reed, our Algorithms columnist, has taken on new responsibilities and sadly can't continue writing the column. We understand and thank him for his years of service. In the meantime, we're working on finding a new author for the column and hope to see Algorithms back in RBD soon.

End of article.
