Since the early days of the MonkeyBread Software Plugins, REALbasic users have asked for a way to render HTML files, most often for some kind of help window.
In response, I wrote an HTMLViewer plugin control for Mac OS 8/9/X in June 2002.. With this, users had and still have a way to render HTML 3.2 in a control. Over two years ago, Safari was released and I wrote my own Webkit plugin for REALbasic.
Now the Mac version was done and people were asking for a control which worked in Windows. I told people that they can do it using the OLEContainer control in REALbasic 5. But, sadly, no one reported success.
So recently I started research myself and found nearly no documentation. There was a simple OLEObject example in the Online Reference and a few emails on the mailing lists, but none actually doing what I need: placing an OLEContainer on a window which acts as a web browser control.
Of course we can already add an ActiveX WebControl on the toolbar in the Windows version of REALbasic, but this control won't work in the Mac version of REALbasic so you can't cross-compile your projects. And this is necessary, since REALbasic 5.5 can't create Mac icons when compiling on Windows.
