27th Precinct, 3:15 pm
Detective Charlie Sanders was smiling, his feet on the desk. "That's the oldest trick in the book, Hank. Vigil really fell for it?"
Detective Hank Marsh chuckled. "Hook, line, and sinker. She kept clicking and clicking, and it never occurred to her that we substituted her desktop picture with a screenshot of her desktop. Ain't that right, Vigil?"
The woman across the aisle was scowling. "Never again, Marsh. And you better be careful, 'cause I still ain't never paid you back for that."
Sergeant Harvey Durrant came in with a no-nonsense look on his face. "Marsh. Sanders. In my office."
"What's up, chief?" The two trenchcoat-clad detectives sat, looking across the desk at the Sergeant.
"Detective Larson hasn't checked in for three days."
Sanders raised his brow. "Larson? Isn't he undercover with some cult?"
"The Consecrated Guardians of Infinity." Durrant pushed a manila folder across the desk to Sanders. "This is the info Detective Larson gathered before we lost contact with him."
