Have you ever wanted a better way to save and print documents from your REALbasic applications? A small, high quality file which looks identical on every REALbasic platform and prints fast. Interested? Well, you know what I'm talking about -- it's PDF, Adobe's Portable Document Format. Almost everyone with a computer has Acrobat Readerand it has been downloaded over 500 million times since 1993!
Last year, while developing a REALbasic application, I thought, "Wouldn't it be great it I could save and print this report in PDF?" But how? Obviously, Saving to PDF is an option on MacOSX, but those files are too big, and my users need something really easy, in just one step. And, well, raw PDF was just too hard...
Well, now I know a whole lot more about PDF and it's neat! So, I'd like to share with you my PDFObjects, based on REALbasic controls, called REALpdf. This example project contains text, images, and graphics set out in different fonts, sizes, and colors. With one click, a PDF file based on the contents of the window is created.
