Excerpt of article text...

In this issue's column we will actually create a simple application to show how the animation system is used. It simply places a figure in the center of a field and allows you to walk him around and throw some punches as well. To round it out, we'll use the animation system to trigger some sounds. I'll only show the highlights of the code here, so be sure to download the demo project.

AnimationClass -- Revisited, again!

It's always something. I added two simple get methods, GetCurrentSequence, which returns the current SequenceClass that the AnimationClass is playing, and GetCurrentPoseSequenceID, which returns an integer that points to the PoseClass currently being displayed. As simple as they are, they will play an important role later.

Setting Up

There are five things that must be defined in order to set up the animation system and its required resources:

An instance of AnimationClass, bound to an RB3DSpace

An instance of SequenceClass for every animation sequence required
