Excerpt of article text...

I would like to start out by saying that I have absolutely no allegiance to any development environment. REALbasic, Cocoa (and OpenStep), VisualBasic, MFC, Java-- I've spent a considerable amount of time with them all. I suppose you could say that I like to pick the right tool for the job.

DiscBlaze first sprang to life in June of 2003 (just a few short months ago). At that time the idea was to make an incredibly easy to use CD burning program that cost less than some of the more expensive burning applications out there.

I decided to make use of Apple's DiscRecording Framework in MacOS 10.2 and to write the application in Cocoa in order to take advantage of the DiscRecordingUI Framework. This provides the system-wide user interface (most notably the "Burn Settings" sheet) for burning CDs that you find in other applications such as Disc Copy.
