Excerpt of article text...
This article will describe the joys and pains I've had developing SmartLaunch. Hopefully it will inspire you to release a piece of software to the public yourself, and maybe you can also learn something from the technical challenges I've faced.
File Utility?
SmartLaunch is a utility for launching applications and opening files and folders. It can be handled just by using the keyboard. As you type, SmartLaunch will show a list of items with names containing the characters you have typed.
So, if you want to launch REALbasic, you activate SmartLaunch, type "real" and hit return. If more than one item contains the characters "real", the list can be navigated using the cursor keys.
Using plugins
SmartLaunch started out as a tool for myself. As a developer I was launching all kinds of applications, I wanted an easy way to do this. Also, my big dream is to become an independent software developer writing Mac software for a living, so I wanted to see what kind of response one could get from shareware.
